2024-25 Player in Review: Shai Buium

Defenseman Shai Buium skated in his rookie season with the Griffins, totaling 25 points (2-23—25), 22 penalty minutes and a plus-two rating in 67 regular-season games. He then competed in three games in the Calder Cup Playoffs, making his postseason debut on April 29 against Texas. The 22-year-old collected his first pro point with an assist on Oct. 26 at Lehigh Valley and scored his first pro goal on March 4 at Manitoba. Buium ranked among the team’s defensemen leaders in points (2nd), assists (2nd), goals (T4th), and plus-minus rating (T3rd). In addition, he also placed among the AHL’s rookie defensemen leaders in points (T11th), assists (T6th), power-play goals (2, T6th), power-play assists (9, T6th), and shots (80, T12th).
